Mystery, Crime, and Mayhem magazine just released its latest issue—and it’s all dedicated to the faithful sidekick. I’m pleased to announce that my story, “Facing the Diamond-Hard Truth,” is featured in this Cozy Sidekick issue.
In the story, my amateur sleuth, Cathryn Harcourt, solves the mystery, as usual. And the mystery’s puzzle is brought to her by her niece Margot, living in England with her US Military husband. Also, not unusual.
What’s special about this story is that it’s told from Margot’s point of view. The sidekick becomes the star of this show!
We couldn’t do it without you
Sidekicks can play such an important part in mysteries. Where would Sherlock be without Dr. Watson? Or Nero Wolfe without Archie Goodwin?
Though the main character may not consider the sidekick an equal partner, every person is the hero of their own story.
Collected here are stories from the sidekick’s point of view. Because, after all, they might be the star of the show.
Issue 11 of Mystery, Crime, and Mayhem presents Cozy Sidekicks.
So Criminal, it’s Good.
Facing the Diamond-Hard Truth
My story begins when Margot overhears a whispered plan for murder at her local book club meeting. Calling upon her Aunt Cathryn for help, she steps forward to prevent a future homicide, only to find herself embroiled in a deeper mystery from the recent past.
You’ll meet a host of interesting characters—all seen, this time, from a whole new point of view!
How about you? Who’s your favorite mystery sidekick? Tell us about it in the comments.
