Better than hot chocolate

Christmas time hot chocolateWhat’s better than hot chocolate for warming the heart during the holiday season? Hint: It’s a no-calorie option and it works year-round.

It’s the power of story. And it’s especially potent at Christmas time because we’re more in tune with the greatest of all stories—the one that underpins everything. In our family, we had a tradition of gathering in the evenings leading up to Christmas to share a scripture and read a story.

My father-in-law put together a book for us each year, full of Christmas stories he’d collected. Some were joyful, some sad, some full of humor. But they all touched our hearts and filled us with the Christmas spirit. It’s always been my favorite part of the season.

Join me for a Christmas story?

Might I suggest a Christmas story for you? It’s a superb classic, and you’ve probably heard it before. But if that’s the case, take the opportunity to enjoy it again. And if you’ve never read it, I implore you to gather your family, pass the eggnog and candy canes, and share this story with them.

Candy canes and baublesI’m referring to The Gift of The Magi, by O. Henry. Possessed of all the elements for which his stories are known—humor, detail that brings it to life, and a surprise twist ending—this one goes a step further and adds a generous helping of heart and a precious gem of wisdom.

Doing what I can

I wish I could meet each one of you, my readers, and give you a gift in person. But instead, I work each day to bring you stories to satisfy your craving for suspense, mystery, and a human connection. I may never produce such a treasure as O. Henry’s Magi, but such a masterpiece is what I strive for.

Thank you for sticking with me on the journey. During the month of December, you can get my book, Death of A Muse, and a whole bunch of books by other authors, at the Book Funnel Mystery Thriller Giveaway. For FREE!

I wish you a most wonderful Christmas season!
